Partnering with VT to provide students with real virtual construction experience [Video]
Hourigan Construction has partnered with Virginia Tech to help supplement their students’ coursework on virtual construction using a real world project. The students have been directly involved with the Brock Environmental Center project where they have been able to gain hands on experience. There have been two semesters of curriculum and a third semester is being planned for Fall 2014.
Throughout the current semester, the students were involved in weekly meetings with the Brock Environmental Center team and had specific deliverables and deadlines related to the project. In the coming fall semester, the students will help with measuring the success of the building’s net-zero energy for the Living Building Challenge.
