Saved from being the site of large-scale residential development, Pleasure House Point will now be the home of a new 10,000-square foot environmental center, promoting wildlife conservation and sustainability. With hopes to be Virginia’s first “Living Building,” the facility will be built with the intention of having a “net zero” impact on the environment. A stakeholders committee met recently to discuss additional uses for the property, including wildlife trails, kayaking and canoeing, and habitat restoration. Construction has been scheduled to begin in the spring of 2013 for a grand opening in the fall of 2014.
